I'll be arriving to Bogota in the evening, and my next plane leaves the next morning, so instead of paying for a hotel, I'd like to go around the city, not so far from the airport? is it dangerous?

  1. Read my other answer in Spanish. There are no neigborhoods close to the airport that are safe at night for tourists. You have to go to the north.. The T zone (Andino mall area) or, like I said, Andres Carne de Res to dance. Be sure to get back to the airport early and whatever you do from Andres Carne de Res DO NOT catch a cab in the street. Call one. 311 1111 will get you connected to a cab company. You can also go up to El Mirador to see the city.. but its not open as late as Andres and if you go to El Mirador.. be sure to get your taxi to wait. Its worth the cash.. no taxis pick up up there.. even if you call.. youll wait till h**l freezes over for one to show.

  2. I totally disagree with Sofa King...Andres Carne de Res is an amazing place for partying, but it's really far from the airport (depending on traffic, it could take you more than an hour and a half to get there).

If you want to have a great dinner, the best restaurants in the city are located in the "G zone", near Avenida Chile (Bogota's Financial Center). It's about 30 min from the airport. There are also some really good restaurants at the "T Zone", near Andino mall, which holds some of the most exclusive stores in the city (Along with El Retiro and Atlantis Plaza malls, all located within one block away). This area is just 5-10 minutes away fron the G zone, and maybe 40 minutes away from the airport at rush hour.

For partying, some of the city's best clubs are located in that area. Some of them play Crossover music, like Alma or Santa. These places are open from 9-10pm until 3am. Others, like Gotica and Cinema play electronic music, and stay open until 6am.

This area is really safe, You just have to take some precautions, like calling for a cab, instead of taking one in the street.
