  1. Let's see:

SANTA BARBARA -- You could wander down State Street  or take a stroll on the beach.  All kinds of California cuisine and great Mexican restaurants, and lots of nice places to stay from economy to very posh (take a walk around Fess Parker's Red Lion resort if you get a chance).

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY -- All kinds of wineries out that way that have tours and wine tasting, and they have some great restaurants in the area like Mattei's Tavern, A.J. Spur's, Federico's, and The Hitching Post II.

SOLVANG -- Danish tourist community just a few miles east of Highway 101 on State Highway 246.  Great food, great shopping, all kinds of nice places to stay, and they even have an outdoor theatre.

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- VERY nice town with the added benefit of college atmosphere (Cal Poly is in SLO).  See the mission, walk up and down Main Street, eat at The Apple Farm, or even stay there if you want to...

CAMBRIA -- Right down the road from San Simeon, which is where Hearst Castle is.  The town of Cambria itself is very charming with sidewalk cafes, art galleries, etc., and The Cambria Pines Lodge is a GREAT place to stay.

  2. Big Sur or Cambria-- you find moonstones washing up on the beaches there

  3. I took my wife to the Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo. We got the jacuzzi room. We were naked for two days.
