Places to visit nearby Munich international airport.?

I am traveling through Munich airport and need to wait 6hrs for the connnecting flight, in the mean time I would like to visit some of the tourist places near by airport. Can you suggest some of the places. Thanks.

Getting to Freising as chimpo suggested is possible, but takes almost as long as getting to Munich.

So I'd prefer Munich over Freising a million times. Nearby the airport is basically nothing.

Take S1 or S8  Marienplatz, it takes around 35 to 40 minutes.

You'd have about 3h in Munich, which is well worth it and you can visit Marienplatz and all the nearby attractions in the old  part of the city.

6 hours is not an awful lot of time. Make sure you have a boarding pass to get back into the secure departure area.

You might want to consider Freising, near the airport - catch the S1 from the airport and change to go back north to Freising, at Neufahrn (going back to the airport is the same in reverse). To go into Munich itself will take 40-50 minutes each way. Judge for yourself whether it is worth the risk of getting back in time to check in.

There really isn't much out near the airport.

Taxi should bring you in for another approx 10-15€ (one way).
