I am a 13-year old who wants to volunteer. Do you know any place (animal shelter, hospital, etc.) that will let a 13 year old kid volunteer (in Austin, Texas).

  1. hi! I think that is so awesome that you want to give of your time! I looked up a few things for you.

The first one is the link for the Austin Humane Society (shelter's for dogs and cats) They have a special training course that costs you $20. And most likely you will have to have your parent volunteer with you.

If you live closer to down town there is also the Town Lake animal shelter. They do not have a training fee, and my not be as strict with whether or not your parent needs to volunteer with you.

Then you have the Austin food bank. Who collects food for people who can not afford grocery's. They need lots of volunteers.

And if for some reason you don't find what you are looking for there, here is a web site with ideas and ways to volunteer.

Good luck! Keep up the positive and giving attitude!
