Places to work at 15 w/ work permit?

Im 15 and 1/2 years of age and my birthdate is 11/7/92. i've been looking around trying to apply for jobs, but places like restaurants keep saying their minimum age is 16. But i've heard that these places hire at 15, so im a bit confused. can anyone clarify? is it up to the owner of the store whether to hire 15 year olds? Also, any idea where i can apply? i asked in and out and mcdonalds and they all told me 16.

I'm having the same problem and I'm 16 so... but every ones saying 18, it pisses me off. i call them up and that's the 1st question i ask... to tell you the truth now is the worst time to try to get a job, ur competing with collage (there getting out of collage... what a surprise, us too) students and seniors (gas is killing us all) for jobs. check with http://www.snagajob.com/default.aspx?ref... there good place to start, local papers too.

im 15 also. My birthday is in october.Im looking for a job too and really the only place i know of that you can be 15 is Chick fil a. I need help trying to find a job too.This is soo frustrating.Your definately right its going to be hard cause all of the college kids.
