  1. To be quite honest, that's literally no where in the United States!  It costs an arm and leg to attend college nowadays.  BUT, it's cheaper to attend college in your home state than it is out-of state.  However, there are some things you can do.  One, you can get work-study.  What that means is that you can work a part-time job while going to school.  Most jobs are located on campus;therefore, you wouldn't have far to go and have the hassle of worrying about getting to class on time.  If you don't qualify for work-study, you can find a part-time job around the college campus at a fast-food restaurant, coffee house, etc.  If all else fails, try to get on the good side of one of your professors.  Then, explain to them that you're finances are looking pretty grim and you need some cash to help you get by in school.  Then, ask them if he needs any clerical assistance such as making copies, typing letters, etc.  Tell them that if he is, that you will be more than happy to assist them.  That way, you will either be a work-study student or a regular part-time employee on the school's payroll.  BUT, work-study jobs go fast, so, make sure you're one of the first ones to apply for such.

  2. What do you want to major and where do you live now?  In state schools are usually cheaper than out-of-state schools.  If you want to go to an out-of-state school, then maybe work six months before going to school to establish residency.  Many schools in the Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa) are "inexpensive" (in state) and cost of living there is rather low.  Avoid schools on the east coast or California.

  3. Arkansas and Oklahoma both have a very low cost of living.  If you move here a year or more before you apply for admission so you can become a resident and get in state tuition.
