  1. Because plagiarism is the theft of an author's work, which that person has put their time and sweat into..

  2. The author would consider it a grave offense because the student is taking all the author's hard work for granted. Wouldn't you feel angry if someone stole YOUR masterpiece?

  3. plagiarism is stealing somene's idea and orginality.

in order to protect your own idea, though it may deemed to be in writing such as books, stories, cd, video etc.. you should be able to have them copyrighted. once copyrighted

you've been already protected by copyrighted law.

thus anyone should attempt to copy, reproduce in any form of your copyrighted stuff should ask permission from you or should credit you for that.

    without this---go for a lawsuit.

  4. Dear proud mom of two,

    Congratulations on your new arrivals!

As the quote says: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", but it wasn't said by a college dean. Even a long-dead author had to resist plagiarizing the work of others, that is if said author had any institutional education to speak of. Even if he/she didn't, for centuries now, authors have cited the original source from whence their information has come.

I think you're mixing apples and oranges here.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Because having your work copied by another, and claiming that it's their work, after all the time and effort you have given in just doing it, is a real thing to be angry about. I'm sure no one would be so happy seeing his fruitful work being claimed by another who didn't sweat so much in that work. So it is really a grave offense. So you better cite your resources.
