Plainfield Central crushes Plainfield South – Wrestling news
Plainfield Central claimed a 66-12 victory over Plainfield South on Thursday, in Southwest Prairie Conference, after paying homage to 9 seniors in the league on the Senior Night.
Although the schedule for Plainfield Central was a tough one, the team still managed to emerge victorious, beating all odds. The team forced the Cougars to forfeit six times, while the losing one of the 7 matches.  
Commenting on his team’s great achievement, Jim Kappas coach of the Wildcats, stated, “We have nine seniors and all of them are four-year wrestlers. We’re very proud of that number since it’s the most that we’ve had since I’ve been here. Today was all about
celebrating their accomplishments. For the last month, our competition has been top-tier. We’ve taken some lumps, but these guys believe in each other and know that they have our support. We’ll keep sticking together and working hard because our goal is the
end of the year.”
After Tommy Kokkines defeated Danny Nguyen at 145, the Wildcats went onto a score of 4-3, however lost the following fight when Kyle Ledbetter was pinned. On his loss, the wrestler stated that they have been through a tough time and as a team they all know
they can do it.
He further added that even though he has taken some tough beatings, he still can manage to get in the spot with the right amount of dedication.
However, that is not where the Wildcats gave up. They managed to bag another win when Jake Meeder crushed Mike Marro brutally at 160. Following the win was Central’s first forfeit victory by Wendell Daviston.
Mike Farr won through forfeit at heavyweight, Nana Aikins walked away with a 10-3 victory at 195, Jordan Ellingwood was pinned at 182 and Greg Cameron bagged a fall at 220.
On his glorious victory, Nana Aikins expressed that their coaches have always pushed them hard to bring out their best even in times of discontent.
Feeling proud of his team’s success, the wrestler further added that even though the last month came with a tough schedule, their coaches helped them go through it to emerge superior among all. The coaches are being highly praised by the boys which is a
reason for them to smile.
