Plaiting up for a show... any tips?

Question

i am plaiting up for a friend who is in a show on monday and was wondering if anyone had any tips how to make my plaits look neater?

i can already plait up but just want to improve them

Use a normal hair brush(human) cos they work better, then get a water brush and brush through the mane and tail. Make sure the plaits are extremely tight! Otherwise they don't look neat.

make sure u dont make the plaits too big, especially when u do the tail!start off with as thinner pieces as possible! also i always use abit of moose before i start so that its not too soft if they've had a bath and use hairspray afterwards to hold it in place!give yourself plenty of time to do it aswell! theres nothing worse than having to rush! good luck!

Dampen the mane/tail first :-) It will make it easier!

Finish plaits with hairspray (just remember to brush it out afterwards!)

When plaiting the mane, pull the mane up to plait. Then when you lay the plait and roll it up, it gives the impression of a fuller neck. (If this doesn't make sense, email me lol)

ALWAYS use an odd number of plaits in the mane (the forelock making it even)

Use thick plaits to make a thin neck look better, and thin plaits to make a thick neck look better.

Use less plaits on a long neck to give the illusion that the neck is shorter, vice versa on a short neck.

Stitch up when rolling rather than using bands if you can, it looks much neater.

i find using a damp cloth helps to bring out the dirt on top of the plait to make it look cleaner cos sumtyms its 2 hard 2 get all the dirt out
