My step mom thinks I live in a dream world because I have a plan for my future.First part of my plan is to stay a Virgin until Marriage.I think she might only think this is"perfect"because she lost her virginity when she was my age,13.she also thinks that because I don't swear and won't until I am older, that I am trying to be perfect.she thinks i think I am perfect because I don't do things I know I am not supposed to.Another part of my plan is to go to college. Then get married,And be married at least a year before I have my first child at about age 27.She had her first child at 17 and I really don't want to end up like that.Do you think she is right, that I am living in a perfect world,or do you think she is wrong to judge?

  1. I think she is jealous that you are so intelligent at such a young age. You are wise to plan. That doesn't mean you will always stick to the plan because things do come up. However, if you don't have a plan, you will never have an idea of where you are going. I have always said to my kids, when talking about having a plan, "Better to aim at the moon and miss it than to shoot at the ditch and hit it." Meaning that it is better to have a plan, even if you don't fulfill every aspect of it than to not have a plan and simply wander around aimlessly.

  2. It is good to set goals and try to achieve them. But life hands you all kinds of challenges and you have to understand that even if you plan to do all of these things and in the order you specified it may not work out that way, nothing is guaranteed dear.

She is wrong to judge you. It is not for us to judge. She should be proud of you for thinking clearly and wanting to make something of yourself before you settle down. Another thing you have to remember, and might keep you on course is that even if you did fall in love and marry before you finished your education, it does not meant that that love and marriage will be there to support you.

  3. Sounds to me like you have it together girl.

Do you have any openings for a gran father?  You sound like what I would want my my grand daughters to be like, both of them.

    You have my support.
