Question:

Plan on going to to community college?

Ok since I didn't get accepted into the college I wanted to go to due to academics, I figured I go to community college and earn at least 12 college credits,which was recommended to me. My question is if I start during spring admission would I complete it in time to transfer for fall 2009 admission to university? The deadline for that university is july. I'm going to my local community college around january in which spring classes start.

Spring semesters in college go from January to May. You'll have your grades in time to apply in July, if that's what you meant. 12 credits is the normal full-time courseload; I recommend registering for 15 so you'll have the opportunity to drop a class after a week or two if it seems like it won't go so well. Sign up for the spring semester early so that you can register early and get the classes you need.

12 credits are about 3 to 4 courses. So if you start on spring 2009.. you will be set for the fall. Usually applications are reviewed once your transcript get to the university. If your deadline is before classes ends.. then Im sure you can put that you are currently taking classes in your application however i think youll have to show that you course is at progress before the deadline. Once you finish spring you will have to mail them the transcript with grades. HOWEVER.. try calling the admissions office and asking them if this can be done and if this interferes with the admissions decision. Good luckk

Make sure you apply for the university that you want to go to first. Most applications are due in the beginning of the spring. On that application you would put down the name of the community college that you're going to. Then after you get accepted you would have to get your transcripts from your community college and give them to the university in order to get the credits to transfer over.
