Plane tickets online

Question

Good morning everyone! =)

Well my best friend and I are planning to go to Vegas next week for like 3-4 days and we cant find any cheap plane tickets. We can only afford up to $350 i would say, but all we can find online range to $385-$470. We are coming from metro Detroit with zip code 48088. I don't know if tickets are just flat expensive at this time or we are just flat stupids online researchers lol.

Any help of you would be very much appreciated. We feel like we're running out o ftime. Thank you thank you lots in advance!

go to samsclub if oyu have a membership there you can find good tickets cheap. best to get a package of hotel and car though

You should look at http://www.LastMinute.com and http://www.CheapTickets.com also put in a bid at Price Line for 350 to see if any of the airlines take it http://www.PriceLine.com

Summer is peak travel time, planes are running pretty full, and last-minute fares are not the cheapest way to fly.

That being said, you could try "last-minute" travel sites [such as Site59.com or do a search for "last-minute travel"] and see if anything is available.  

Also, check the Las Vegas airport website to see which airlines fly there, determine which ones are the low-fare lines and then match that with which lines fly out of Detroit.  The low-fare carriers, such as Southwest, don't show up on the travel search sites.  

You could also try Travelzoo.com.  Their "Top 20" deals this week include American Airlines flights, but they have to be booked by midnight tonight, I think.  Also check their "Airfare" section for possible deals.

Part of your problem is that you are going next week. The prices that you found are surprisingly cheap for last-minute travel. Plan ahead next time and you'll save a lot of money.

I randomly picked dates in September and immediately found a fare of $322 on Northwest. This was for a Monday departure and a Thursday return. The cheapest fares typically have an advance purchase requirement. Also, airlines limit the number of discount seats per flight, so they're more likely to be already be sold if you wait too long. In general, last-minute travel = more money.

Try Kayak.com. It searches many different websites and combines the results, so it's fast and easy to shop. (However, please note that no website always has the lowest fare in every case.)  If you can't find the price that you want, try some different dates. That may make a difference.

Also try to look for small airports making trips to Las Vegas, You may have to drive a bit to get to one, but it will be well worth it.

You waited too long .. the price you found was pretty good considering the time frame. Next time plan ahead.

Usually you have to buy at least 30 days in advance to catch any deals at all.  There may be a site where you can get some last minute deals, but I never find anything good.

Your best bet is to travel on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday to catch any good deals at all.

On Southwest their flights from today until next Thursday are $385 each way.  If you can wait until after Thursday, they drop down to $220 each way, and on the 22nd they drop down to $169 each way.

For the same price you can fly August 18-21, and that would put you in Vegas from Mon-Thu, where the hotels would be cheaper.

I hope this helps.  Honestly this is a heck of a deal for a last minute trip to Vegas.  I usually start shopping for air and hotel 3-4 months before our trip to scope out the best deals.  I hope you have fun, I will be there on the 25th!

P.S.  Excalibur is my favorite hotel and we stay there everytime we go.  It is affordable but decent and in a great location.

Airfare is VERY expensive right now because the price of gas.  You are also going to pay more because you are booking last minute.  I always book at least a few months in advance.  I looked at a few, and the cheapest I found for you was 497 now through expedia and 5 plus on continental.  I really don't think you are going to find one for less than 350 now.  Good luck and have fun if you do.  Check expedia, travelocity, and individual airlines.

been watching the travel notes recently and LV is one of the bargain places, but you may want to wait anothere 30-45 days to get a more reasonable price on the tixs.
