Plane tickets?

first off why in the world do plane tickets have names on them? why cant they be like sports tickets? i mean, a spots a spot. its not like we had to take a test to get the ticket. now. on to my real question. is there any way to change the traveler. i had someone cancel on me and i dont want my tickets to go to waste. can i just take someone else? is it a big deal?

Can you imagine if no name was required to get a flight ticket? We would have absolutely no idea who committed the attacks on 9-11-01?  Its a security issue.  Each airline has there own policies on transferring your ticket to another person.  Most airlines will not allow it when you have purchased a discount ticket through an on-line discount agency.

An airplane ticket is a contract between you and the airline.

To change, you call the airline and pay the fee.

you need the names on tickets as you need to make sure the person that is two be on the flight that is on the flight and not someone else and if there is an accident we need to know who is on that flight so we are not looking for someone who is not there
