  1. There's nothing to think about, since it doesn't exist. It's the result of a mis-translation by an incompetent amateur archaelogist. I find it amazing that people will believe in a "planet" for which there is absolutely no evidence, while at the same time denying that we travelled to the Moon, for which there is a huge body of evidence.

  2. Ok, I realize you don't believe in the Nibiru/planet-x theory... thats good, continue doing so. There is no need to be "open-minded" over the existence of an imaginary planet... I'll explain why it doesn't exist later.

Lets start off the the religious background of "Nibiru". The Babylonians actually named a planet "Nibiru", which they associated with their god, "Marduk". Marduk is basically the Babylonian equivalent to  Greek god, Zeus. It was their main god, and they named the largest planet in the solar system after him... they named it "Nibiru". But this Nibiru is actually our Jupiter... they didn't even know that planets outside the solar system existed, nor did they even hear of anything called a "brown dwarf", so they never thought that Nibiru was a brown dwarf orbiting the sun, and on a collision course to Earth. Nibiru was a god associated with Marduk.

But there are certain religious groups that go for the brown dwarf/planet x /Nibiru interpretation. Scientology seems to have a sort of belief in this Nibiru, but that isn't among the whole group, just among some people. But in the faith of Scientology, they do think that the world is going to end in someway that has no relevant scientific evidence or speculation. There are other minor religious groups and cults that believe in the brown dwarf version of Nibiru.

Other than that, there's pretty much nothing more to "Nibiru". There are no references to a planet x in the Christian Bible.

As for the philosophical views of Nibiru, there isn't really much there. Some say that Nibiru is a sign of the inevitable pain and suffering of people because of the study of planets outside Earth. This viewpoint is among a small percentage of very liberal Christians who feel that studying other planets and the rest of the universe is Satanism and is leaving God's creation behind, while also challenging the existence of God. But this is more religious than philosophical, and again, there are NO references to it in the Bible.

For scientific references to Nibiru, there are only references to the planet Jupiter. There have been no sightings of a brown dwarf in the solar system. Only a handful of brown dwarfs have been seen, and they are in distant star systems. A brown dwarf has the mass between a large gas giant (such as Jupiter) to 80 Jupiter masses. We also know that any planet would have to orbit near the Kupiter belt, or it would simply be too far away to be held by the sun's gravity. Given this, we can say that there is no brown dwarf in our solar system because we would've observed it by now. Its that simple. It has no 3600 year orbit... nothing even close to that. If a brown dwarf did exist, it would've been seen by now. We've seen objects in the Kupiter belt a fraction of Pluto's size... how could we miss a planet larger than Jupiter there? It is because of this that we can make a clear statement that Nibiru (in terms of being rogue brown dwarf) does not exist in our solar system. Because of this, there is no reason to believe in it.

  3. All lies.

  4. What is philosophic/ religious about it?

Moon is revolving around Earth and the pair revolves around Sun. Do you believe it as a fact? It is happenstance, a phenomenon. That is all. If you call it science, you can. There is no mambo-jumbo or black magic about this simple fact. The other two, you can make anything out of it.

People believe in Jesus, Allah, Siva or some one else (Wahe Guru!). Do not question it. Let them be and as a social event to participate, do it. But do not mix things. There is simply no evidence of Nibiru, to believe it. If you can come out with a simple proof of its existence and movement please do it.

    Doomsday: 6

    Apollo Hoax: 1

Nibiru has no basis in fact whatsoever. It would be equally valid if I told you that tomorrow at 7:15am, the Easter Bunny is going to come to your house and kidney punch you until you cough up blood. Would that scare you? Of course not.

Now you don't seem frightened or concerned by this, but just interested in the whole idea, but believe me - it's just the latest "plausible" thing that the prophets of doom have found to use as their bogeyman to scare people into buying their books and videos.

2012 is not a special year for being the last on the Mayan calendar any more than December is a special month for being the last month in the Gregorian calendar.

Planet "Nibiru" is just one of the many things that the end of world predictions say is going to happen in 2012 as the masterstroke that ends humanity. I've read on here that it is this, or the crossing of the galactic plane, or the rise of the New World Order heralding in the apocalypse "spoken of" in Revelation, or when an unknown asteroid will come from nowhere and cause a mass-extinction event, or when the magnetic poles of Earth will reverse, or even that the Earth is going to flip upside down, wiping us out for good.

Nibiru is actually the ancients' name for the planet Jupiter.

If you see many disgruntled responses to this, then realize that this is in effect your answer as to what people are thinking about this, at least in the Astronomy&Space category of Yahoo! Answers. As you can see, I got so tired of this question, that to amuse myself, I'm keeping a tally of every time I answer it from now on. (as well as the hoax that Apollo was faked).

I'm reasonably open-minded (just find some of my answers having to do with religion) but there is just no basis to believe any of this doomsday hogwash. People have predicted the end of the world for as long as we've had the language to express the concept. It has come true exactly 0 times for all of those predictions. This means that there's no reason that this Nibiru claim has any more credence than my fesetious Easter Bunny analogy.

  6. Actually, despite some claims, there are very good reasons as to why Nibiru cannot possibly exist as claimed by it's adherents.  If you have at least college higher maths,  and look up celestial or orbital mechanics, you can prove my statement for yourself.

  7. Planet Nibiru could just be another hoax story of our doomsday.

But..This may not be a big deal with respect to the year 2012.But it is relevant to the year 2036. BTW ..it aint a planet at all. It is just an asteroid which has a 1/1000 probability of striking earth in the year 2036.

It would arrive near earth in the year 2027 .. n get attracted by the gravitational field of earth n revolves earth for about 9 years until it would (let us hope not) strike earth probably leaving earth with sumthin similar to what happened when a similar impact drew the dinosaurs out..

I realised this when i saw a documentary shown by ..i guess The History channel...

  8. being 'open-minded' does not mean believing in fairy tales, peter pan or Nibiru...  it means taking the time to look at both sides of the argument.

for Nibiru that takes about 5 minutes to recognize that its a load of c**p.

a fool might believe that some planet can wander thru the Solar System on a regular basis (every 3000 years means a whole LOTTA trips) without leaving an iota of trace of its passage on the orbits of the planets, but no one with a High School education would believe such garbage.

  9. No.  There is no planet Nibiru, just as there is no planet Earth.

  10. It is apparent that you're unable of critical thinking, it's nothing but lies and propaganda.  But if you want to be stupid you can go ahead and believe things like that, most people on Earth are dumb, so you won't feel lonely.
