i swear if i see another 2012 question I'm gonna jump of a building. nothing is gonna happen! the only thing thats gonna happen is that people are gonna pick up another year and ask whether world is gonna end in that year.

BTW there has never been a reliable observation of this planet x made.

Planet X was an original theory from over 100 years ago before Pluto was discovered. It was theorized by an astronomer named Percival Lowell to explain distrubances in the orbit of Uranus . In the early 90s, it was discovered that the disturbances in the Uranus' orbit were caused by Neptune instead and the theory was pretty much abandoned.

Now some idiot has turned Planet X into a ficticious planet of doom that's supposed to pass close to earth in 2012 and bring the end. NOT TRUE! No such planet exists, if it did, someone would have found it by now. The 2012 end of the world is nothing more than a hoax, created and spread by an internet cult called Zetatalk. The same idiots that said Planet X would come across the solar system in 2003 and cause a pole shift on the Earth that would destroy most of humanity. 2003 came and went and nothing happened. So now Planet X is supposed to do the same thing, again, but on Dec 21 2012 instead to go with the end of the Mayan Calender. Just like it didn't happen in 2003, it's not going to happen in 2012 either.

Planet X (also called Nibiru) was said to be spotted in the early 1980's by astronomers who were tracking stars when they noticed that one had moved a significant distance in a year. However, having friends who are astronomers, I can say with great confidence that this is flatly an urban myth. Having spent more than my share of time speaking with astrophysicists and astronomers alike, they have taught me about what are called "trans-Neptunian objects" (TNO's) and they say that the largest is a large moon near Pluto called Charon.

With scientists looking all over the Kuiper Belt (which is leftover materials from the formation of our solar system), they've found large items in orbit around the sun. However, none of them has the eccentric orbit required to be Nibiru.

I should also note that "Planet X" was the designation for Pluto before it was discovered.

My astrophysicist friends all agree that there isn't any gravitational influence that would signify that any other planet the size of the one claimed by the 2012/Niburu folks could even exist, much less that it was hurtling toward Earth and would be here in 6 years. You see, they can gauge this because of the way that the gasses on gas giants move, as well as by other means (such as the orbits of the planets themselves).

The year 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar. However, plenty of people predicted dire things when the Aztec calendar ended in 1986, as well as when the Toltec calendar ended in 1975. These dire predictions are best thought of as calls to be prepared and to advance ourselves in technology and society, rather than actually predicting anything will happen.

Many people predict things ranging from Christ's second coming to mass global changes, and even the end of the world. But nothing like this happened the last time the Mayan calendar ended, so why should we think anything different will occur this time? There is no evidence at all to support any ideas that there's anything like this even remotely possible, never mind likely.

But you never know: science isn't perfect, and maybe we missed something. Even so, it would take about 14 years (e.g., 2022) for anything natural in the Neptune range to hurtle toward Earth, and we have plenty to worry about with the "near miss" calculated to pass just beyond the far side of the moon at half-a-million miles away of one asteroid which is a whopping 100 miles (about 160 km) across in 2027. This is proof positive that the astronomers and astrophysicists have our backs, because if something was in fact hurtling toward Earth, it would be thoroughly known by now.

But as far as 2012 goes, I'm looking forward to the next Presidential elections, and I'm fairly certain the Olympics in England will be awesome (oh, if I could only travel there by then!), but as far as the dire predictions go, I just can't place much credence in those, or I'd stop loving life as much as I do. Hope is much better than fear.

2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Many pagan cultures (Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching, Mayans, Egyptians, Celts, Satanists, etc...) celebrate this evil event called "the abomination that causes desolation". When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you.
