Planetex likely to win Wateraid Handicap
Planetex is in an extremely good position to win the Wateraid Handicap at Newcastle in England on Friday, August 17, 2012. The winner of the class-5 event will be awarded a cash prize of £2,264 in the end.
The going will be good in the 5 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 17:50 GMT. A total of nine runners have been attracted towards the race and the competition will definitely be an interesting one.
There are some very good runners lined up for action today and one of them is Dartrix, who has been given a general starting price of 4 to 1. She does not have an impressive record, thus the punters will not be risking a lot of bets on her.
On the other hand, Planetex will enter the event with a starting price of 5 to 2. He is quite new to the sport, but has the ability to outperform his opponents. He has proved that once and can repeat that today as well. The track conditions at Newcastle
will suit his running style and the punters will be eager to win some easy money over him.
The three-year-old gelding has participated in three events until now and it will be too early to predict what he can achieve in the future. However, he certainly has the skills to make an impression at this level.
The John Quinn’s trainee made his debut in June this year and was unable to deliver a decent result back then. He was rated as the favourite, but finished in a disappointing ninth place overall. This was a discouraging sign for his team, but he was struck
with bad luck, which cost him dearly in the end.
Things were expected to be tough for him next time around and he was once again unable to make a solid impression, finishing sixth. Despite a couple of lacklustre showings, his team did not give up hope and their hard work finally paid off.
The Irish runner was given a starting price of 16 to 1 in his most recent race and he surprised one and all, winning by a decent margin. He will be looking to repeat such a show once again. His jockey will be, Michael O'Connell.
