Question:

Planning My Sweet Sixteen?

So I am planning my sweet sixteen for some time in August, and another girl and I are doing a double party and our parents are splitting the costs. We want to have it at the Cincinnati Museum, and the total cost of having the part there would be about $1000-$1500. (That includes a DJ, a dance floor, light snacks and desserts, drinks, a photographer and the space that we are renting, and a staff to service us. The museum automatically gives us that when we pay for a special package.) Does this seem reasonable to you? Can you think of any ways to cut the costs, preferably withough cutting people off the guest list? Thanks!

  1. Not gonna lie it seems on the low side.

A good DJ will generally cost $800-$1000. Out of all of those things you can have friends do the photo for you and you probably don't need the dance floor.

For Sweet Sixteens the most important part is going to be the entertainment. It will be the longest 4 hours of your life if the DJ is not experienced with the games, songs, and overall flow of a Sweet Sixteen party.

Your best bet is to rent the space and get everything separate, then you can control the quality of the things you are pulling together for the party. A lot is riding on your Sweet Sixteen and you want it to be perfect!

A guide I put together to help with the Sweet Sixteen planning is attached. There are also some cake resources on the pages there.
