i am planning a sweet 16. i was gonna have it at a hall but i know its very expensive and besides the hall is too fancy for wat i want. so i told my mom lets spend some of the money we would haves spent on the hall to fix up the back yard and have it here! we can rent tables and chairs and still get a dj and wat not. (people around here always have djs playing late so no big deal) but theres a problem! my backyard is hideous! theres this lil shed thing with a lil club house and slide for my bro connected.. and theres cement when you first walk out with a cover thing over it and then theres this wooden porch to the left of the covered cement. but my yard is just dirt...and we cant put grass cuz its not healthy dirt. just gross kind and theres TONS of huge weeds in the back. i have a fairly large backyard but wat are some ways i can make it more nice? its gross! plz help!

(YES THIS QUESTION IS IN DIY ALSO, I COULDNT CHOOSE)

  1. No problem... you can turn your dirt into Fiesta Paradise.... simply buy some bamboo torches and fiesta cutouts, hanging decorations, yard signs, balloons, inflatable cactus and stuff like that... simply visit:

http://www.partystuffonline.co.uk for great ideas and themes including Mexican Fiesta

  2. how about pulling out the weeds...and convert your backyard into a beach?...back yard with sand and using the cement as a "boardwalk"  set up the bbq there....have a popcorn machine, pop in coolers filled with ice.....buy some of those ticket rolls...guests can exchange tickets for food and snacks......have a water fight since it doesn't sound like there's room for a pool...unless you want to buy a few "kiddie pools" for fun and wading to cool off.....set up some beach chairs with umbrellas, have some frisbees .......

or go with a cowboy theme? toss some hay bales around the yard have a corn roast, guests must come in cowboy attire...boots hat etc etc.........if you look online you can find some great menu ideas  for various themes

  3. is there a park nearby that you could use? it would certainly be better looking and most likly free.

  4. Here's what I would suggest:

Get bundles of hay and throw that down, enough to cover the dirt part of the yard.  Get tiki torches to go around the outskirts of the yard.  Consider stringing mini white lights (like Christmas lights) around the fences or up trees.  Putting light higher than eye level will minimize the not-so-lovely ground.  Make sure things are well-balanced as well.  Unorganization will do the most harm in making your yard look a mess.  Get tablecloths in matching bright colors (white, pink, orange, etc) to go on tables positioned evenly around the yard.

Get some fun decorations, also.  Chinese lanterns, potted plants, jars of bright candy, and balloons.

Most importantly, have fun!  Really, you are your own worst critic.  People just want a place to come relax and have fun.  VERY few people will be criticizing your place.  And if you have good food, even those people won't care.

    Happy birthday!

  5. I would also suggest to move it to the park
