i am planning a sweet 16. i was gonna have it at a hall but i know its very expensive and besides the hall is too fancy for wat i want. so i told my mom lets spend some of the money we would haves spent on the hall to fix up the back yard and have it here! we can rent tables and chairs and still get a dj and wat not. (people around here always have djs playing late so no big deal) but theres a problem! my backyard is hideous! theres this lil shed thing with a lil club house and slide for my bro connected.. and theres cement when you first walk out with a cover thing over it and then theres this wooden porch to the left of the covered cement. but my yard is just dirt...and we cant put grass cuz its not healthy dirt. just gross kind and theres TONS of huge weeds in the back. i have a fairly large backyard but wat are some ways i can make it more nice? its gross! plz help!

  1. i don't know i think fixing your backyard will be more expensive than the hall by just adding grass thats a couple thousand. depending on how big your yard is.  just look for a much much much more cheaper hall. i mean im sure there are some halls where it is much cheaper. "] good luck

  2. Clean up all the weeds, take a pickup to the local sawmill, get a  couple loads of sawdust, spread it around the yard to cover up the dirt, then you can host a western/BBQ themed Sweet 16.  Just get rid of the sawdust afterwards, it draws termites and can be a fire hazard over time.

  3. clean up as much as you can and cut down the weeds.  Then go to the local party shop and buy some inexpensive patio lights (they brighten up almost any yard) and some helium balloons.  Put the helium balloons in bouquets of 3 or 5 and put the strategically in front of the things you want to hide.  Ask for the balloons to be in groups of 3 or 5 with weights.  That way you can put them down on the ground anywhere you please.  They will brighten up any backyard.

Then pick up the very inexpensive plastic patio cups and plates.  Go for colour!  Yellows, pinks, blues, greens!  Make sure whichever colour scheme you go for, the balloons are in the same colours.

Have fun - no one will be concerned about the backyard if they are having lots of fun!

PS.  Don't forget you can always chose a theme (motion pictures, theatre, country and western, rock and roll, etc).  That is a really easy way to chose colours and make any backyard festive!  ENJOY!
