Planning a Handfasting...?

How do I start planning our handfasting? We know what we want to have, but need a little help. Including finding someone to perform it for us, and there are other complications...(spiritual differences). If you have been handfasted, please tell me how you planned it and how beautiful it was!

What are the religious differences?  I mean if you are wanting to have a handfasting more in tune with the old Scottish tradition or if you are wiccan and wanting to do that as an official (aka legal) wedding ceremony--those are very different.

Figure out exactly what you are wanting.  Is it a handfasting for spiritual significance or do you want it as a legal binding ceremony?  Talk to the people you would like to have perform the ceremony and see how you can combine those religious differences.  Many pagan traditions are similar enough that despite the religious differences the ceremonies are very similar.  Are they different enough that you need 2 officiants to merge the traditions?  In which case, meet with both at once so you can discuss how to do this.
