  1. Ulm is very nice and I also have friends who live there.

  2. Ulm itself is important historically. large city. s/b some museums and stuff, i've never been there. i'm by the swiss border. temps in september are hard to call, the weather is so finicky but it is usually warm and we get foggy mornings that time of year. it's the humidity. bring a sweater or two. hats are good.

americans have the reputation of flying past everything, stopping for a second to lean out the car window and clicking a camera. To enjoy Germany is to walk on a forest path, wander throught the center part of a city as old as 1500 or sit in a cafe and have a bretzel (bangel in shape of a pretzel) with a cup of coffee.

  3. Only a short distance from Ulm is Blaubeuren and its Blautopf...a very deep spring with an unbelieveable color!  Must see!

  4. I have lived in Germany for 3 years now. If you are going to be in Ulm I suggest that if you are interested in German castles that you take a short trip down to Schwangau. This is the home of the famous Neuschwanstein castle. It is by far the most impressive castle in the region. You can find information on it here... http://www.neuschwanstein.de/english/ind... . That is south of Ulm. Also, if you travel north of Ulm on Autobahn 7 you will come to town called Rothenburg. This town is still completely medieval. The city is still completely enclosed in fortified walls and has an authentic medieval atmosphere. If you go west you will hit Stuttgart and to the East, Munich. Both places have a plethora of sights that would more than likely interest you. One not to far away from Munich is Dachau Concentration Camp if you like the WWII history. Ive included some sites for you to check out. If you have any further questions feel free to email them to me!

As far as the temperature is concerned. In Sept. it is still fairly mild probably around 50's to 60's.
