ok so i have just started a job to get some extra money in but we are planning on starting a family and are ttc how long do i have to work somewhere to be entitled to maternity leave?

  2. Oh you are off to a good start as a parent, planning on dumping you new infant on someone else to raise. Why not take your maternity leave now by quitting and using the time to read some books by Dr. Laura, the one called "how to mess up your kids lives" would be a starter.

    There is no job more important or more rewarding than being a good mother, and don't even attempt to excuse yourself. You have the chance to do what is right.

    If you plan to have a child plan to stay home for the first few years at least, although working only when they are in school or not at all would be best for you kids.

    And if you need the money then you are not ready to start a family. If you can't aford life now, then you can't afford the extreme expense of a family. Money problems are the number one cause of divorce.

    Save your marriage, save your child, do your homework, listen to Dr. Laura for 6 months, and you will understand..

The average job requires one to an employee for a yr before he/she is entitled to take advantage of benefits...like paid time off for maternity reasons...otherwise you could probably still take off but it probably won't be paid..You should check into your company's policies on things regarding this.   6. Well, at my work we have the option for short-term and long-term disability as well as FMLA.  Unfortunately, we have to be there 1 year prior to having the ability to take FMLA.  It just depends on your company and state laws.  I live in Ohio and work at a pharmacy.

    FMLA is Family Medical Leave Act that entitles you that you will not lose your position and you will still have a job when you come back.  I was able to take 3 months off UNPAID using FMLA.  Short-term disability, you usually hav eto put money towards this every paycheck to get any resources from th company as PAID leave.

  8. It depends on yor new jobs policies, there should be a benefit book in human rescources. But shouldn't be longer than 6 mths. It is against the law for places to fire you because you are progo so ck into your companys benefit plan.

Wow....that's pretty lame.  When a woman goes out on maternity leave it's a major blow to the business and your co-workers.  They have to sit idly by, pay you, possibly hire a temp, and then wait while you mull over whether to stay home full time or come back.  It kind of really sucks for the employer.

    I'd give them a minimum of 2 years of service if you're a decent person.

    To be fair to them, in the interview process, please let them know of your plans to start a family the second you're eligible for maternity benefits.  You plan is very deceptive.  It's only fair.  You have zero chance of getting the job.

    Best for you to be on your husbands insurance plan and just work a menial job until you get knocked up.  I hope you teach your children better ethics.

  10. Think you have to work for them for 9mths to a year before your entitled to maternity leave. It doesn't matter if you don't go back. Usually you get 6mths full pay but you can take up to a year off anyway. Remember your partner is entitled to paternity leave too.
