Planning a fun weekend for a 10yr old boy?

I want to take my stepson away for a weekend of fun just the two of us. I'm on a tight budget so I'm not looking for anything extravagent or crazy! I just want to spend some quality fun time with him. He's 10yrs old and we live in New York City. Any ideas?

Maybe go to a nice movie theater. Take him to central park. Amusement Parks are good too

zoos & parks(are still relatively cheap)...find bugs

What's his main interest, maybe one that the other 2 parents don't really show an interest in & find a way to stretch activities related to the interest over the weekend.

skateboarding

amusement park

check the children's museum & other kid/ teenage outlets for the goings on near you & during the weekend.

Take him to see a baseball game. take him fishing and out to eat afterwards. 10 yearold boys like everything, as long as it's not too girly

Try an overnight trip to an amusement park.  I don't live in NYC so I am not sure what's around.  If you need to go out of town for a weekend...I know Pennsylvania and D.C. (Six Flags) have amusement parks.  But that also depends on if he's tall enough to ride most things there.

Is he into Broadway?  Enlighten him with a show and ice cream afterwards!  A lot of people don't think boys at that age would like live shows but my sons loved seeing Cats, Annie, and others on stage!  It helps to keep them well-rounded!

Try some museums also.  I imagine there's lots to do in NYC!
