Question:

Planning a short trip to Ireland?

Hey guys,

I know it's a bit tight, but I'm planning a short trip (~5days max) in Ireland this year in late April.

So my Q is: where should I go? (It's so different albeit NESW)

I'll definitely be starting off in Dublin --- for some reason, that's gotta be my first and last stop. I could be driving or taking an Domestic flight if needed.

I'm more into sightseeing and hopefully just a relaxing time with the nature and my partner. Nothing too expensive / fancy though, hopefully =)

I welcome any suggestion and thank you in advance! (Remember I only got 5 days max =P)

  1. Dublin is a good place to start your trip to ireland, but by no means should ya spend your entire time there. Dublin no longer gives you the true irish feeling your probably looking for. While you should spend at least a day or two there to see everything, you really should head a bit more west and travel around the country. As someone said, Kerry is beautiful and shouldnt be missed if you can help it.

Personaly I think you should head to Kilkenny for a day or two. Its about 2 hours by bus (only about 10 euro) and its simply wonderful. Its a quaint little town, that still manages to have a bustling and active feeling to it. Theres tons of shops and sights to see during the day, and even more pubs to explore at night. We've a brilliant castle and a few medieval churches with beautiful scenery.

  2. There lots to do and see in Ireland!! Bt you dnt av 2 necessarily leave Dublin.Dublin has lots of tours and sights as well as shopping entertainment  and restaurants! If u took a domestic flight u wud b able 2 do mre sightseeing bt nt all airports r near sights! Sights in Dublin include St.Patricks Cathedral,Christ Church Cathedral,G.P.O.(General Post Office),The Guiness Brewery,Trinity College,Dublin Castle,Dublin Zoo,Phoinex Park,Aras an Uacharain(House of the president),The National History Mueseum,The National Art Gallery etc. Sights outside od Dublin include Blarney Stone and Castle, The Rings of Kerry, The Giants Causeway, The Japanese Gardens, etc

Note that Dublin Zoo and Aras an Uachtarain are inside the Phoinex Park!!! U can also take tour buses. The bst one i think is The Viking Splash Tour it brings u to all the key site in Dublin City and then at the end the bus turns in2 a boat nd  it goes in the water!! U can also take other tour buses were u buy a day ticket and u get on the bus nd if u want 2 gt off a site  get offf nd wen ur finished at that site u wait at the bus stop for the nxt bus nd gt on for free cause u av the day ticket!!!

  3. Newgrange! I'm going there on the 21st and it's going to be awesome. In Dublin there are plenty of free museums and galleries (Natural History, Archaeology and History and the Decorative Arts museum). Free galleries include the National gallery, Hugh Lane, Irish museum of modern art. If you're travelling down the country then I recommend Kerry. There's some beautiful scenery around Killarney. Galway city is a nice change from Dublin-its the cultural capital of the west coast. There are also plenty of abbeys throughout the country (there are some really good guide books and whatever hotel/guesthouse you stay in should be able to help you out. Up north there's Belfast and Donegal for nice scenery.Anyway, I know thats a lot of stuff for five days but hopefully something will catch your eye!
