I'll be leaving mid sept. and return end of nov. I'd like to do an island stop on the way or on the way back. Out of these choices which would you choose and why? Japan, Phillipines, Bali, Tahiti, Taipei (this would be as a layover to Bali), or Samoa? Thanks - I can't decide!

  1. Bali for sure.

  2. I would advise you to check what the weather is like in each of the places you want to visit for the months that you are likely to visit.

Also, whether you prefer someplace to lie on a beach and relax, or somewhere to explore.  We visited Japan in May and found it good value, safe, easy to get around and very interesting.  The weather was quite good too as it was just before summer.  If you visited mid September I guess you would miss the really hot months.

We've also visited Bali.  It's more a place for relaxing.  Check the weather as it's hot all year round and can be very wet during certain months.

I've heard that Tahiti is quite expensive, although I guess it would be quite beautiful.

  3. I've been to Australia and New Zealand many  times and have done stopovers.  I'm not sure how you would be able to work that Japan in their.  From the list you have there I would say Tahiti.  French Polynesia.
