  1. What you heard is correct.  September is considered the rainest month.  But even with that it is usually short periods of very heavy rain and then it ends and it's hot and humid.  Best time to come is the high season Nov to Feb if you don't want any rain and less humid but still hot.

  2. It is still possible to travel around. You can still have a fine time.

  3. Half of it falls at night, which shouldn't bother you. The other half falls in short heavy showers, usually lasting less than half an hour. It can be dry for days on end, with one or two showers.

If it rains, just shelter somewhere, and wait until it's over. It cools things down nicely. You may even enjoy it: the water is warm, just like the weather. Quite a different experience from more cooler climates.

So don't worry, and enjoy a great holiday!

  4. Agree with Bob.  It rains hard for about an hour or two in the afternoon.  What they would call "gully washers" in the US and it is hot and humid but I really prefer it because the rates are cheaper.  Carry an umbrella but it won't help your pant bottoms getting wet.  That's why I suggest shorts and rubber type sandals.   Its also a good way to meet people, nothing gets you closer than trying to stay out of the rain..
