Planning on getting Blackberry Pearl 8120 tomorrow, wondering if I really should?

I want to get the Blackberry Pearl 8120 for T-mobile, but I don't think I'm going to upgrade my plan. Would the Blackberry still be worth it, or should I try a different phone?

  1. I love my Blackberry Curve.  My niece has the Pearl.  If you text a lot, you may like the full keyboard of the Curve better not to mention a bigger display for browsing.

They won't make you buy anything, however, if you want all the features on the phone to work (web and email), you will need the blackberry plan.  I have TMobile and the plan I have is called the "Blackberry Minuts & Mail" for $59.99.

    *Whenever minutes  1000 per month

    Weekend minutes  None

    Weeknight minutes  None

    myFaves minutes  N/A

    Mobile to mobile minutes  None

    Shared minutes  None

    Additional minutes  $.35 per minute

    *Data transfer (web)  Unlimited

    *Included Text Messages  Unlimited

    *My E-mail  Unlimited

    Corporate My E-mail  None

HotSpot  None (but you have wifi)

  2. would it be worth it?

hmm. it depends. i do want to stress that if you want this phone for the following reasons that these applications and functions use your battery at a higher rate than if you were just talking...

do you need a mp3 playing phone?

if so this phone will play your mp3's.

    movies?

yes,but thats, in my opinion a big hassle.

    displays pictures nicely.

-----now that we got that out of the way, WiFi

the sole reason i got this phone.

wifi is nice to have. its not that fast. if you use very basic applications it is great...for instance, movie times, weather, facebook. email can even take some time to get into.(yahoo or anything like that) i havent tried blackberry's enterprise/ outlook email.

everything on the phone is pretty self explanatory. you will have to get adjusted to blackberry's texting software. took me a few days.nothing too bad.

there are a few apps you have on the phone like memo pad and tasks... how these are helpful, beats me. i dont think that this phone, so far, is as helpful, when it comes to writing an agenda, as a daytimer book planner from office max.

i personally hated the phone at first, big change from my samsung flip phone. but now i really like it. and i think that understanding  all that it can do will only come with time.

not interested in figuring out cell phones? definitly not the phone for you.
