Planning on going to the Dominican republic ?

Is it really worth it? Who has had some good vacationing and touring experiences there? Also what is your opinion on Cuba?

The D.R. is a great vacation spot if you like warm weather during the winter months. I just returned from Sosua last Monday and I really enjoyed my trip. I used the links at www.MyTravelFest.com to book my hotel (Rocky's Rock and Roll Bar and Hotel $22/night) as well as the search engines for flights and other hotel choices. Sosua has a very nice beach area.  That website also has GREAT Cuba travel information including a link to Havana-Rentals for renting a cheap apartment ($25-$35/day) for your stay. If you can stand the LONG flight then Pattaya, Thailand has many things to offer for GREAT prices.

Oh yes, it is definitely worth going and experiencing this island. We have been 4 times, and we have stayed in Puerto Plata, La Romana/Bayahibe, Punta Cana area.

Personally, we like the southern part of the island better.(Punta Cana/LaRomana area) The beaches are awesome (white sand) and the water is calm and clear. We like just hanging out and relaxing.

Puerto Plata area is also very nice and more to do. We were there with 9 people. 4 adults and 5 children and they loved all the action. They did many excursions.

It depends what you are looking for in a vacation. Lots of action or mellow type vacation.

The people are so nice. It helps if you speak some Spanish.They really appreciate your effort.

Go to Puerto Plata (north coast) of the Dominican Republic, you gonna have a real holiday with big beach, good hotels, a lot to do, Ocean World, and about 30 diferent excursions! and the most important SUN.
