I'm planning to buy the new 2008 ninja 250R. It's only $3500, so my assumption is that the full coverage insurance wont cost much. But I'm wrong perhaps? I have my international driver's license that comes with international motorcycle license also. And this license is completely clean without any bad records. Dont know if this will help because I'm gonna have to get a new license here in the states. So basically, I'm going to buy the bike a couple weeks after getting the motorcycle license.

I'm ready to spend the $200 on the MSF course if it helps decrease the insurance cost significantly. Do you know by how much the insurance cost can decrease due to an MSF course?

Thanks. All answers and attempted answers will be appreciated.

note: please do not say anything like "buy a used 2005/2006 model" or buy a "600/1000 cc". I can't go with the ugly looks of "before 2008" ninja 250'

  1. do you not own a car?  it works the same way.  full-coverage insurance isn't based on the price of the car.  check with your local companies.  shop around.

  2. if you are a newly licensed driver a whole LOT!!!!  you will need full coverage if you are financing and since its brand new you would want it even if you are paying it outright.  you will be surcharged since you are newly licensed.  Ninjas are high performance bikes and high to insure.  it also depends on where you live and the amount of liability you need.  the best way to find out is to call a local independent agent and have them quote it for you.  they write for a lot of companies and can find you the best rate and getting the quotes is free.
