...and I had a few questions. First, how much does it cost for an American? Second, what are the policies for shoes? You must take them off? Are there any bare foot people there? Thank you!

  1. hi allen..

i think now the flight rates are cheaper...it costs around $900 to and fro...

about your removing shoes...there is no costum like that u should remove and walk...up to certain point  of entrance u can have them..there is no objection to it..if u want to visit any sacred place there like the tomb of shahjahan /mumtaz,or any mosque then u have to remove your shoes and can walk with your socks,u will find no difficulty in it,and u have people there who can look after your shoes,ok...and i feel you will enjoy the culture there...

i think its not a big issue for your trip....

    have a great time

  2. Assuming you have visa and other needed documents, it would cost you your roundtrip airfare + accommodation + food + local travel within india.

Airfare changes depending on where you are in USA. It ranges anywhere between 900 (east coast) to 1700 (Pacific side) for a round trip economy class. You check makemytrip.com for details.

Also, once you are there, you might book your hotel from here itself. You can use the same website for your entire trip and or try india tourism development corporation website. http://www.indiatourism.com/

they have good travel packages. I would not suggest you any private tours, since it appears to be your first trip there.

Another suggestion is carry and expose only limited money to people and if you are a girl/lady, do not wear any revealing clothes, to avoid any unwanted attraction.

have a great trip to India and enjoy.
