We are planning to visit the following cities in Australia at the end of August.

Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Great Barrier Reef.

With this being the end of the Australia winter, will it still be ok to visit this cities or will the weather be horrible and ruin our trip?

  1. south eastern australia has been enduring a decade long drought. unless you have magic drought ending powers you will find the weather may get a little cold at night but it will be far from horrible

  2. It is the end of winter but the southern states could still be cold at night but don't let that bother you. I suggest you go to Melbourne and Sydney first then come up to Queensland we have by a long way the best weather out of the Eastern States and by August our Daytime temps should be up around the 25-30 degree Celsius and at night shouldn't go much below 20 degrees.

  3. In August 2007 the lowest Daytime temperature in the Brisbane area was 17.3°C, and the highest was 28.8°C.  Although it did get down to below 10°C overnight on 11 nights in August.

Melbourne however was between 13.1°C and 25.7°C, with 19 nights below 10°C.

How that will help you will depend on where you are coming from.

If you are coming from a cold climate you may find it plenty warm enough, but if coming from a hot climate, it may still be cold for you.
