Planning to visit Rome and Venice in end of August?

Is most of the shops will be closed during that time because of the hot weather? Is this still happening there? I get different information from travel sites. Some say it's old story that shops closes in August to avoid hot weather.

  2. You will find some shops closed because most people in Italy go on holidays in August, but in Rome and Venice that are full of tourist, most of the shops will be open. If you come to Milan you will see that everything is closed in August.

  5. I live in Rome, and I can reassure you that most shops are open in August. It's also a perfect timing for holidays, no traffic, long sunny days, etc... You will enjoy Rome.

  6. There are plenty of shops that will be open. I would check the days and times. I remember being in Rome, some places wouldn't open till after 2pm (I think). I'm not too sure on this though, as I cannot remember very well about the details on store closings.
