If you will get a salary of US$800, is this enough for the cost of living in Poland, and to give support for your family back home.

  1. No, it is not enough: the US $ rate is falling down and prices are going up. Twice that amount could help you survive, living modestly.

  2. Working on the basis of official figures http://www.stat.gov.pl/english/  - this shows that the average salary (June 2008) is 3201.98 Polish Zloty per month.

    3202 PLN = 1,576.95 USD

Therefore 800USD would mean you are earning less than half the national average.  It is quite a few years since I visited Poland last but I know from reading and from managing pricing at work to subsidaries including a Polish one, that the cost of living (and so salaries) have been increasing since they joined the Euro.

So on this basis I would say that no, it is not enough to live and support a family back in the US.

On a second note - are you sure you could even work in Poland.  A US passport holder needs to obtain a working visa to work anywhere in the EU and these are very difficult to obtain (same as a EU person wanting to work in the US).  This salary level would not equate to a 'highly skilled' migrant, so I am not sure how you would get a visa unless you have a EU passport or a relationship with an EU person

  3. It is enough to survive and to live a very simple life without any luxuries, spending money on fun etc. It is definitely not enough to support your family back in US.

  4. The information you provided is too little to say.  Is it 800 per wk or month.  Is housing and meals provided.
