The Gothic town is my favourite however the beach is nice and habour is wonderful. If you go to the top of the hill in the main park you can take the sky rail. Use the metro to get around its so quick.

They speak both Spanish and Catalan there. Checkout the H10 hotel sites as they sometimes have good offers on rooms. Close to the diagonal as well.

Be warned there are pickpockets in Barcelona. I'm not telling you to put you off!!! You need to be vigilant, watch your bags at the airport, and when your out at night
