Question:

Plano, TX or DFW Area Restaurants?

My 14-year old neice and her friend are visiting me in TX in a few weeks, and since I don't have any children of my own, don't know any restaurants they might like. Any suggestions?

I'm hoping to find a few places that aren't chain restaurants, and are fun for kids.

  1. I have heard good things about "The Magic Time Machine" in Addison.

There is a "Rainforest Cafe" in Grapevine Mills Mall, too.

I'm sure there are lots more!

  2. Amazing Jakes in Collin Creek Mall just off Central expressway in Plano.

  3. I recommend "Magic Time Machine". The wait staff are all dressed up in costumes from characters from movies and books. Each booth is designed differently, from the library to the school bus to the hollow tree. One booth is made up of crayons. The salad bar is a salad car. In addition to your own table staff, the other characters will also come by and say something witty. It is a lot of fun for youngsters. It will surely be a memorable outing your niece will remember forever.

I also recommend the "Medieval Times" if they are into horses, knights, kings and lords and ladies.

If they have not been to a revolving restaurant, we have one at reunion towers, which is also affordable.

Go ahead and make some good memories with your niece.

  4. Dave & Buster's is a chain, but kids love it.
