Plans for professional golf: Kiwi Lydia Ko says she won't make Wie’s mistakes

Kiwi star Lydia Ko is quite wary in choosing her idols, as she has said that she is not going to make the mistakes of her all-time favourite, Wie, regarding her professional golf career.
Ko is a rising star from New Zealand and has been doing her best in her amateur career so far, and now she is gearing up to join the pro circuit in the near future.
Moreover, the young player will also be taking part in the 2016 Olympics — something sure to give her a much-needed boost.
Ko stunned golf fans early this year when she became the youngest title holder of a professional event. She was just 14 at the time of her victory at the New South Wales Open.
Speaking to the media about what she thinks about her idol Wie, Ko said that she has a great respect for the American star, as she liked her style on the course.
However, she was keen to point out that she is not going to join professional golf with a hastily-prepared plan.
She said that she cannot do several things at the same time. Playing golf is her dream, she stressed, but she also has studies and school to pay attention to.
“She (Wie) became pro really early and she decided to do school work at the same time, which is two hard things to do,” the Kiwi star said.
“She also played a few men’s tournaments on the men’s tees as well. So she went a bit of a different direction to what I want to do, although she is my idol”.
“I think doing school work and playing as a pro is going to be way too hard,” she said. “I think she’s amazing but I don’t exactly want to go the way she did”.
Lydia Ko not only grabbed the coveted title of the youngest player to win a professional tournament, she also beat Ryo Ishikawa at the New South Wales Open. She posted a stunning 69 to jump atop the leaderboard.
Analysts said that Ko is a very talented player, as she has shown in recent months that she can pose a threat to big names if she keeps on the same track.
