There are plants that have seperate male and female flowers (Or whole plants). What are the advantages & disadvantages of this arrangement?

  1. Having separate male and female flowers means that they can't self pollinate themselves. Self pollination leads to less variety of genes in the plant species. There is also much more chance of cross pollination; leading to more variety of genes in the plant species.
