In a cell biology lab, students are examining sections of plant cells. Some students report seeing the nucleus, others do not. some students see a large vacuole, some see a small vacuole. some see an extensive ER, others see almost none. How can these observations be explained if the students are looking at the same cells?

  1. cells, even among the same type, vary greatly.  they also vary with time and will look different from different angles.


  2. Cells differentiate amongst themselves, and depending on where from the plant the cells came from, they can have different functions that help them work better for that specific part of the plant.
