Plant help I have a Fern that needs real help

I have a fern and its turning brown. I gave it water and I am not sure why its turning brown and dying. Please help. It was just given to me.

  1. Ferns like a lot of water and NO direct hot sunlight. If it's in the sun promptly put it in the shade. As long as it's shaded and watered it should be fine.
