Plant identification/gardening pocket book?

can anyone please reccomend a good plant identification/gardening, pocket sized book ?

  1.   You could try asking for a book called a " Flora"  These books are old fashioned but extremely clever.  They ask you a series of questions such as " How many petals?" go to page 6 ----"How many sepals" go to page 8 ---until you finally arrive at your plant.  Very effective way of finding a plant and a lot of fun.


  2. There are some field guides out there, but you'll have to choose what kind you want.  There are too many plants to include in a single guide.

    You can get one for trees, or wildflowers, or weeds.  (Those are the most common field guides...but there are some others).

    Also pay attention to your region.  Eastern U.S. will be different from Western U.S..  Just make sure the region the guide includes is where you live.
