Plant shoot elongation?

don't really udnerstand how a plant shoot elogation occurs.

what are the steps? does it include germination? is it the same thing as germination?

what are the hormones involved?

is apical meristem involved?

=/ im so confused!

  1. Germination takes place when the embryo in the seed starts growing. It forms a root that grows downwards and a stem (shoot) that grows upward. Growth takes place by means of mitosis in the meristematic region (region of growth). The hormone that stimulates growth  is auxines which is present in the  middle of the apical meristem. Apical meristem is the growth region just behind the tip of the shoot.
