I was walking in the woods behind my house this afternoon and spotted a plant that has 7 lobed leaves that are almost identical to a marijuana leaf. Its not much of a plant, more like a stalk with these leaves coming off either side, about the same distance apart as a pot plant before its been topped, and there is only one leaf per set, where pot leaves grow in pairs. I used to grow "tha buddah", and I am almost certain this is not any strain of cannabis, but the leaves are IDENTICAL!!! I have tried to look up what kind of plant this is but to no avail. It also has a few small "berry-like" deals up at the top of the plant, and the top of the stalk branches out into 5 or 6 smaller branches. I am going crazy trying to figure out what it is cause there are quite a few of them back there. Oh and just to be clear, its not just a look alike, like japanese maple or anything like that. It looks almost EXACTLY like a young pot plant, but the top is different. What is it?!?

  1. The false aralia or Schefflera elegantisima is very palmate with toothed leaves. I only know it as a house plant but people grow it outdoors in zone 11 or above.

Cleome hassleriana also has palmate leaves and grows in zone 8 or up.
