  1. lack of humidity, along with drying winds. and just the stress of transplanting...... it's a bit off looking, but it won't kill your tree... later this fall, the new leaves will not have that...and next year's leaves will be fine....

stay up on the watering... keep the soil moist, not soggy and be sure it's draining well.... use your fingers to test the soil for dry or damp.... you should not fertilize until next year..... but a  weak solution of seaweed extract seems to help newly transplanted or traumatized plants to settle in.....

  2. Make sure that you are watering the root ball. When you bought this tree it was in a soil different than the soil that you have in your yard. Water will not go from one soil into another soil until it is completely saturated. Sooooo, when you water, make sure that you are watering directly into the root ball or container area that it was grown in before you planted it. So many new plants die of lack of water even though you think that they are getting enough. Once the plant is established (you start to see new growth) regular watering should be fine.

  3. I would say that a lack of water is your problem.  Water deep.  Build a well around the tree out by the dripline if possible.  The dripline is where the roots are that take up the water.  To get an idea of how deeply you are watering take a bar and push it into ground around the tree.  It will go in until it hits dry soil.  The wet part of your bar is how deeply you've watered.  Do this in 4 or 5 places around the tree.

  4. it needs water or it will die

  5. It is possible for these plants to get a sunburn, try moving it to a shaded area.
