HELP. i recently have put a new driveway in (concrete). my yard is very nice (i treat it). i planted (starter seed) and layed straw down along each side of driveway. (about 2 to 3 feet in from edges of drive). the grass grew nice, but is thin in some spots. now, my question. i want to thicken it. i was told do not apply weed and feed yet. should i use fertilizer, or just spread some new seed.. i water every morning and night..one side of the driveway grew great the other side still has the straw and the grass is starting to come up. dont know why that side is having problems. anyways, how do i thicken the good side..i live in ohio if it matters. we are in 80 degree weather until about october...thank you

  1. Just over seed it and it should fill in nicely for you.  Sounds like it gets plenty of water so you should be good to go!

Can't go wrong with Slayer!  Hey even us headbangers need an outlet the landscaping is a hobby of mine!

  2. If you haven't fertilized the lawn, yet. Do it.  Eventually the seedlings will use up the Nitrogen in the soil or mulch or whatever and begin to turn off-color.  Prevent this by applying a light rate of N and water in.  Fertilizer will thicken, darken a lawn like nothing else (considering irrigation coverage is GOOD)

Juice it!  (and it won't affect any new seeds you plant to fix those thin areas!)  80 degrees- nice
