Planteur headed to Royal Ascot after impressive performance in the Group 1 Prix D'Ispahan
The Marco Botti trained, Planteur, delivered an impressive performance at Longchamp on 27th May, 2012, when he competed in the 1 mile, 1 furlong Group 1 Prix D'Ispahan, and finished in third place.
The five-year-old horse was mounted by rider Christophe Soumillon, and tried as hard as he could, but still fell short of the victory by a narrow margin of 1 ¼ lengths, behind the winner, Golden Lilac, and ¾ of a length behind race favourite and runner-up,
Cirrus.
Marco Botti commented on the performance of his charge as he stated that:
"He ran a great race and we were thrilled with him, it was a good performance. The ground had just dried out a little too much for him or he might have won - we know he is better with a little bit of cut in the ground. Also, he could have done with
a stronger pace."
The trainer spoke of the runner’s ability to conquer large distances as he commented:
"Christophe Soumillon rode him in France and said it was a very good run and that he could be effective over a mile or 10 furlongs.”
The trainer discussed the future plans of his runner, and said that the bay horse might compete in the Queen Anne and the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot and he is also considering running him in the Irish Champion Stakes.
The son of Danehill Dancer, out of mare Plante Rare, has big hopes and dreams, and he might compete in the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes, which is due to take place at Leopardstown on 8th September, 2012.
Since his career began on 7th August, 2009, Planteur has scored five times among sixteen starts, he has yet to score this season, but looks like he has plenty of options to convert his first seasonal victory.
The A. Al Falasi and M.A. Albousi owned runner previously triumphed in the Group 1 Prix Ganay - Prix Air Mauritius, at Longchamp on 30th April, 2011, where he justified his status of the evening’s favourite as he claimed a victory
over A De Royer-Dupre’s charge, Sarafina, by 1 length.
