had my 6 month check up today.. and my teeth were perfect except i had a lot of plaque because of my braces..

i live in england and as theres like no NHS dentists anymore were on denplan, but cos i have turned 16 i have to go onto adult denplan... i only have one filling soooo i should be catergory A, the cheapest one, but because my braces are causing plaque build up she wants me to go on catergory B, which is a lot more expensive. my mum just left it for now cos once your in one catergory theres no going back..

how can i make sure i get no more plaque... i am getting my braces off in 12 weeks or so, so i presume i will find it easier then to brush..

also this dentist was new to the practice and i dunno i felt like all she did was a cleaning and didnt really look at my teeth if ya get me..

soo yeh how can i keep the plaque down mum got a special tooth brush

  1. You have to brush your teeth very regularly after every meal with a special orthodontic toothbrush. The plaque deposit is not good because it can cause gums problems and your teeth can get week. So what will be the use of getting ortho treatment if the gums become week. I am giving you the link which has good articles on caring the teeth with braces.

  2. plaque builds up over time, Brush you teeth 3 times a day  Morning

after schoo and bedtime  floss daily-flossing helps get rid of buildup

you could also get a mouthrinse for plaque

you just need to brush regularly

New dentists are  like New doctors...still have a lot to learn

  3. Obviously stay away from the sugary junk, brush regular, you tried a good mouth wash? Cutting out all sugar will greatly reduce any plaque build up, easier said than done.

  4. Eat healthy foods.

Brush and floss after every meal.
