Plasma TV: Samsung and Panaonic?

I am debating one which of the two following TV's to purchase.

Panasonic TH-50PZ85U 50"

or

Samsung PN50A550 50"

When I went to Best Buy and compared them, this is what I saw: The primary colors for the Samsung were amazing, but the Panasonic looked sharper and had more of a outlining detail quality.

Pictures on the Samsung that were purple appeared blackish or dark blue on the Panasonic. This shows that the Samsung has better basic colors, but the Panasonic was sharper because of the high quality black levels and outlines.

Does anyone have a suggestion or experience with which one is better? If so, why? Thank's all ahead of time for responses.

I have the Panasonic TH-50. I can only say that I've been happy with it. I wouldn't be happy with a blurry picture if I had one, but I wouldn't necessarily know if the colors were off unless I had a number of screens to compare to as well as knowing the colors of the objects being photographed.

You may want to try adjusting the sets at the store so you can compare extreme color rendition. In other words try adjusting the colors to the point where black is really black and white is really white on both sets. Then pick which other colors you like more. That being said I would still put more weight on sharpness.

Personally, I would TRUST the Panasonic to NOT BREAK.....

And I'd expect to have to repair the Samsung...so get a 5 year service contract on it if you go for it.....

Another thing I like is the fact that when I need parts, those guys at Panasonic SHIP PARTS OVERNIGHT

I LOVE THEM....they are sooooo good to our Panasonic customers !

Those TV sets, just don't fail, and when they do, the boards are RIGHT THERE.....RIGHT NOW !!

I have the samsund and love it as does my cousin who happens to have the panasonic. The only thing you MUST do is adjust the color of the TV then it looks normal again.
