  1. For some reason - don't ask me why - I like the picture on the LCD screens better. I not sure that $4300 is a big roadblock these days.

  2. The choice is ultimately up to you, but I would stay away from insignia and any of the lowel level brands.  They have an extremely high failure rate and you can't get parts for these disposable tvs.  Don't be afraid to buy a plasma tv and don't listen to the nay sayers that plasma doesn't last as long as lcd.  But not all plasmas are created equally though.  If you go for plasma, stay away from lg, samsung and most definitly INSIGNIA which has the worst screen burn in of all tv's.  Panasonic and pioneer are the 2 best for plasma tvs .

  3. For LCD, Samsung is a good brand. Also try Insignia. It's BestBuy's house brand and is made by LG. Toshiba is tops but you'll pay for it, they've had less than a 2% return rate for several years.

For a projection screen, I would reccommend Toshiba hands down. You'll pay a bit more but you will be well pleased with it.

Stay away from DLP, HIDLA and Plasma. DLP and HIDLA have bulbs in the video processor that go out after about 500 hrs use and cost $400-$800 to replace. Plasma is OK and costs less than LCD but doesn't last as long either.

Carver is tops when it comes to SRS but $4300 would only cover the SRS. Check out Sony, good system for the $.

And "yes" you can get what you want in quality, for that price, just shop prices til you find it. I have a top of the line 65' Toshiba Theater Wide that cost $1700. That should leave you some room for shopping.

Check out the link below to compare some prices and models.

    Hope this helps.
