Plasma pixel updates?

Not exactly sure what I'm taking about here - but I'll try to be intelligible.

Looking at buying a plasma screen & my husband asked me to look up something about how often a line or pixel resets itself? Is a reset of each pixel/line or reset of every other better? And what do I Google to get some info on it? Cnet has lots of info on HDTV's, but I'm missing what info he asked for.

  1. My guess is that your husband is looking for the refresh rate, NOT the reset rate. Top of the line LCD TVs refresh at 120 Hz (120 times a second) in an attempt to compensate for a technical flaw in their technology (motion blur and jitter). Plasma TVs do not exhibit motion blur or jitter because their response time is 1,000 - 4,000 times faster than that of the fastest LCD technology. Plasma TVs generally refresh at a rate of 60 Hz, though the 2008 Panasonic plasma TV's claim a sub-field refresh rate of 480 Hz!
