  1. LCD WASTE LESS ELECTRICITY AND IS MADE OF BETTER MATERIAL SO THE PICTURE IS ALOT BETTER

  2. I'm not sure about LCD's but I can tell you first hand that Plasma TV's give off a decent amount of heat.

  3. This question has been asked so many times, but I will answer it again.

The technology between plasma and LCD are very different with the end result being the same. Both have outstanding contrast ratio's, but if you are going above 52'" then I would go Plasma, below that either or will give you equal performance. The only drawback with LCD's is lag time,

( response time) look for a low number , here bigger is not better, buy a set with a response time of 4msec or less, anything higher will not give you the performance you want. Much has been said about "burn in" with Plasma TV's but that has been exaggerated, if you were to use a Plasma TV as a computer monitor then you would experience some burn in. But for the average TV viewer that will no longer be a problem as the industry has corrected that problem.

Both technologies will give you about 60, 0000 hours of use before there is any noticeable degradation in picture quality.

In short, 52' inches or less , either will give you about the same picture quality, above that, Plasma is better.

Don't forget the extended warranty, it's peace of mind.

  4. Plasma, the end. They are consistantly better looking tvs regardless of the situation. They produce a much better contrast (difference bewteen white and black) as well as color reproduction. They also have the ability to produce a true black. Test time!

Go to a store thats sells the tvs your looking at. Wait for them obviously to be on but look at them when they switch scenes, the black void in between images is the teller. On lcds all the time it will be dark grey or dark blue (Sonys are real bad for this). Yes even after the tv is set for being in the home (not on vivid but on standard). Yes they do run warmer than lcd but you should get a calibration done on the tv to make it look better and that would also solve the power consumptiuon problem.

  5. Price: Recently plasmas have been cheaper.

Size: Plasmas come in larger sizes, although LCDs are getting bigger.

Possible problems: burn-in on plasmas; dead pixels on LCD

    Fragility: Plasmas are more fragile.
